1.  COCA-COLA SCHOLARS FOUNDATION - – 250 scholarships for a truly motivated, dedicated, involved high school senior.  Apply on line at www.coca-colascholars.org.  DEADLINE OCTOBER 31, 2006.

 

2.  2007 HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP – A scholarship to assist students who demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, character, financial need, academic record, commitment to a college education, and desire to contribute to society.  You may apply online at www.horatioalger.org/scholarship or download the application.  DEADLINE OCTOBER 30, 2006

3.  AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP - Offers $10,000 to $25,000 scholarships to seniors who demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community, or the workplace.  Applicant must describe in detail an outstanding achievement they have accomplished in a non-academic activity or project.  Go to www.axa-achievement.com for an application.

4.  TOYOTA COMMUNITY SCHOLARS PROGRAM.  Scholarships valued at $10,000 or $20,000 payable over four years for a student who has an outstanding academic record, been an effective leader, and has a well-documented record of Service both within and outside the school setting.  DEADLINE TO GUIDANCE NOVEMBER 14, 2006

 

5.  SCHOLARSHIP.COM – This is an online scholarship for high school students.  Also provides information on financial aid and college searches.  You must follow all deadline dates. 

 

6.  GOVERNOR’S COALITION FOR YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES – A scholarship for graduating seniors who have a disability under Special Education Law or 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and who have demonstrated leadership, responsibility, character and promise for success in their chosen career.  Submit to Guidance by January 19, 2007 to meet the deadline.

7.  2007 SAM WALTON COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP – Application is on-line at www.walmartfoundation.org from November 1, 2006 through January 12, 2007.  This scholarship is a non-renewable $1,000 award for the student’s first year of undergraduate study at an approved accredited college or university.

 

8.  BIG Y’s SCHOLARSHIP - Big Y scholarships recognize academic merit and achievement.  They are awarded to the most outstanding students in the Big Y market area.

9.  THE NATIONAL CO-OP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM – This is a scholarship for seniors who have been accepted at the eleven NCCE Partner Colleges (Antioch, Drexel, Johnson & Wales, Kettering, C.W. Post of Long Island, Northeastern, Pace, Rochester Inst. Of Technology, Univ. of Cincinnati, Univ. of Toledo, Wentworth Institute of Technology).  You may submit your application by paper application or on line at www.co-op.edu.  Transcripts and recommendations are not required.  DEADLINE FEBRUARY 15, 2007.

 

10. PRINT JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP – A $1,000 scholarship for a graduating senior who plans a career in sports journalism in the print.  A one page essay is required (see application), three samples of the applicants writing published since 9/1/05, and letter of recommendation. Applications are also available at www.ctsportswriters.org.  DEADLINE JANUARY 15, 2007

11. WESTBROOK ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP – Most valuable student award is based on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.  A $750 first place award for both male and female and second place of $250 both male and female will be awarded.  A 500 word or less essay is required, a parental financial statement, and letters of recommendation.  One of the four students will be selected to go to the State and National level and will win more money.  See application for further instruction. 12. CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM FOUNDATION – The following scholarships are for students who will be attending a state university:  TED MARTOCCHIO SCHOLARSHIP (Building and Trades Union) Up to $2,000 award for graduating senior who will attend any of the four State Universities and is a child of a Building and Trades Union member.  DEADLINE MAY 31, 2007

PRATT AND WHITNEY SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP – A $1,000 award for graduating senior who will attend Central Connecticut State University and has demonstrated interest and/or examples of excellence in science or technology.  DEADLINE APRIL 30, 2007

T. CLARK HULL PUBLIC SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP – One $500 award to a graduating senior who will be attending Eastern Connecticut State University who has demonstrated leadership and commitment to service to their high school and/or community. Information can also be found on the website www.csusystemfoundation.org.

13.  SHAW-WORTH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – A $1,500 scholarship for a graduating senior who has made a meaningful contribution to animal protection over a significant period of time.  The award may include long-term, direct work on behalf of animals; inspiring leadership in animal protection organizations; papers, speeches, or presentations on humane topics; and heroic rescues of animals in danger.  DEADLINE POSTMARKED MARCH 15, 2007

 

14.  RMHC NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (Ronald McDonald House Charities)– All high school seniors who are eligible to attend a two-or four-year college or university with a complete course of study may apply.  Supporting documents are transcript, personal statement, letter of recommendation, and parents IRS Form 1040 (2005 or 2006).  DEADLINE POSTMARKED February 15, 2007.

 

15.  THE UNITED STATES JCI SENATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM -   RMHC NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM – All high school seniors who are eligible to attend a two-or four-year college or university with a complete course of study may apply.  Supporting documents are transcript, personal statement, letter of recommendation, and parents IRS Form W2.  Follow instructions accurately or you’re your application will be disqualified. DEADLINE JANUARY 5, 2007

 

16. SIMON YOUTH FOUNDATION – A one-time award of up to $1,500 to high school seniors who plan to attend an accredited university/college/vocational school.  Along with completed application an official transcript and parent’s most recently filed tax form are required.  DEADLINE JANUARY 31, 2007

17.  CONNECTICUT ASSOCIATION OF EDUCATIONAL OFFICE PROFESSIONALS SCHOLARSHIPS – A $750 scholarship for graduating senior who will continue their educational careers in the field of business education, preferably as educational secretaries or administrative assistants.  MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE OF FEBRUARY 19, 2007

 

18.  FRIENDSHIP SCHOLARSHIP - A scholarship for graduating seniors based on academic achievement and demonstration of leadership in school and/or community volunteer work that promotes a safe and friendly environment.  A completed application plus school transcript, reference letters, list of community service, and essay are required.  DEADLINE MARCH 16, 2007

 

19.  YALE NEW HAVEN HOSPITAL MINORITY NURSING AND ALLIED HEALTH SCHOLARSHIP – Applicant must be of Alaskan Native, American Indian, Black, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander decent, high school graduate, and planning to enroll in one of the following course of study leading to a Bachelors or Associated degree in  Nursing or Allied Health, Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy, Medical Technology, X-Ray Technology, Radiation Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Nuclear Medicine Technology or an Associates degree in the same fields.  DEADLINE POSTMARKED MARCH 1, 2007.

 

20. CONNECTICUT ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN POLICE, INC. – A scholarship for students pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.  See application for required information.  A copy of the FAFSA Form is required.  DEADLINE POSTMARKED APRIL 30, 2007

22. THE KLINE FAMILY COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP – At a minimum at least one $250 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated community service and who will be attending The University of Connecticut.  In the past awards have been of different amounts.  DEADLINE APRIL 25, 2007

 

23. 100 YEARS OF WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP AWARD - This scholarship is for a senior planning to enroll in the University of Connecticut and who have demonstrated a commitment to women’s issues through service to their community or school.  The scholarship ranges from $500 to $1,000.  DEADLINE FEBRUARY 23, 2007

25. MINORITY NURSING AND ALLIED HEALTH SCHOLARSHIP – Yale-New Haven Hospital will be awarding four 6,000 scholarships ($1,500 annual, renewable for three years) to a graduating senior pursuing a degree in a REgistatered Nurse or a degree in Allied Health: Repertory Therapy, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Occupational therapy, physical therapy or X-ray Technology. You must be of an Alaskan Native, American Indian, Asian or Pacific Islander: Black Hispanic Decent. DEADLINE: March 1, 2007.

 

26. SAMMY 2007 SCHOLAR ATHLETE – The purpose of this award program is to recognize outstanding scholar athletes. Five criteria will be judged: academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership, community service, and milk experience. Applications will only be accepted online at www.bodybymike.com. DEADLINE: March 9th, 2007.

 

27. CONNECTICUT NURSEYMEN’S FOUNDATION, INC. – A $5,000 SCHOLARSHIP PER YEAR FOR A GRADUATING SENIOR ACCEPETED IN COURS OF STUDY BENEFICIAL TO THE HORITICULARYL INDUSTRY. DEADLINE: MARCH 16, 2007.

29. GLENN MOON SCHOLORSHIP FUND, INC. – The scholarship award is $2,000 for the first year, and additional awards of $2,000 will be granted for each of the subsequent three years, providing all qualifications continue to be met; Scholarships for four years and three scholarships for one year each will be awarded.

30. AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF FAMILY AND CONCUMER SCIENCES CONNECTICUT AFFILIATE SCHOLORSHIP – Two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors who will be majoring in the FCS ( Fields of Study) related field or specifically in Family and Consumer Science education (see application for FCS).

31. AMERICAN SAVINGS FOUNDATION SCHOLARS PROGRAM – Over 100 awards for first-time applicants, Scholarships range from $500 - $3,000 renewable for up to 4 years, based on financial need. For more information you can go on-line at www.asfdn.org.

(CEF) – A $500 scholarship for a graduating high school minority student (Black; Native American/Alaskan Native; Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino). The student must be accepted at a Connecticut or university with intend of entering the teaching profession.

DEADLINE: May 1, 2007.

 

33. RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES NATIONAL SCHOLORSHIP PROGRAM – A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior enrolling in a two or four year accredited college/university or vocational/technical school. The applicant must have at least one parent of Hispanic heritage.

34. BILL’S SEAFOOD SCHOLOAR/ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIP – Two $2,000 scholarships, one for a male and one for a remake, who much have participated in sports, good academic standing, good character, leadership qualities, good citizenship and intends to pursue an education in a four year college, junior college, business school, technical college or trade school.

DEADLINE: May 4th, 2007.

35. A. DORIS BANKS HENRIES SCHOLARSHIPS – A $1,000 scholarship for up to four years for a graduating senior, who has financial need, has academic achievement, and citizenship qualities. See application for further instruction. DEADLINE TO THE GUIDANCE OFFICE BY MARCH  1, 2007.

 

36. CONNECITCUT BUILDING CONGRESS SCHOLARSHIP FUND – This scholarship may range from $500 to $2,000 for a graduating senior entering in a program of study of architecture, engineering, construction management, surveying, or other courses leading to a degree in construction feidl. 39. DISABLED WORKERS’ SCHOLARSHIP – The 2007 scholarship provided $1, 250 per semester for four years. Fund is awarded to “the child” of a TOTALLY DISABLED WORKER, for both academic excellence and financial need. DEADLINE MUST BE RETURNED TO DISABLED WORKER COMMITTEE BY MARCH 15, 2007.

 

40. LIBERTY BANK SCHOLARSHIP – The scholarship for four years of college, $2,000 the first year and $1,000 for each year after that. Scholarship will be awarded on Financial need, Academic achievement, community service, teacher recommentdation, personal interview with scholarship committee and an essay of 500 – 100 – words on a topic of your choice. Essay must be handed into the Guidance Office by March 23rd.

 

41. MARY BENEVENTO/CTAHPERD SCHOLARSHIP – A $1,000 Scholarship awarded to any male or female student who plans to engage in the perfessional studies of health, physical education, recreation or dance at a four year instition in Connecticut.

42. WESTBROOK EMBLEM CLUB NO. 535 – Two awards will be given this year for students entering an instition of higher learning in the fall. DEADLINE IS APRIL 1, 2007.

 

43. JUVENILE ARTHRITIS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP – A $1,000 scholarship for a graduation senior with juvenile arthritis or another rheumatic disease in being offered. Copes of the applications are available by mail, email, or fax. Applications form has the addresses. DEADLINE IS APRIL 13, 2007.

 

44. AFSA – AMERICAN FIRE SPRINKLER ASSOC.- A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school graduate who plans to further their education at college/university or certified trade school. Scholarship is not based on financial need. DEADLINE POST-MARKED APRIL 13, 2007.

 

45. AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY 7th DISTRICT PAST PRESIDENT’S PARLEY – Education awards are $100 and $200, for seniors planning to continue their education at University, College, Business or Trade School. Must submit an essay not to exceed 500 words entitled : “Why I wish to Further My Education”. DEADLINE MUST BE POST_MARKED BY APRIL 15, 2007.

 

46. PHI DELTA KAPPA SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP -  A $500 scholarship for a graduating senior who will be planning to major/concentrate in Education. DEADLINE IS APRIL 18, 2007. TURN INTO GUIDANCE OFFICE NO LATER THAN THURSDAY APRIL 5th.

 

47. THE MARGERY C. SCULLY PULBLIC SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP – Two $500 scholarships in memory of Margery Scully for a graduating senior who can best express in essay, format, how they intend to best  serve their community whether it is local, state or federal level upon graduation from college. Examples of public service careers are: teachers, firefighters, murses, engineers, counselors, police officers and elected public office. DEADLINE IS APRIL 30, 2007.
