Junior Year Planning

 

 

MARCH

 

·        Register for May and/or June SAT I and SAT II.

 

·        Ask your counselor about summer enrichment programs.

 

·        Consider SAT II Tests in courses you are taking this year.

 

·        Complete your senior schedule with your counselor.

 

APRIL

 

·        Develop a preliminary list of colleges which interest you and write to them for

      information.

 

·        Plan visits to colleges which interest you.

 

·        File for service academies & ROTC Scholarship applications.

 

 

MAY

 

·        Attend local college fairs.

 

·        Identify teachers whom you can ask for recommendations.

 

·        Take SAT I or SAT II.

 

·        Make a profile of colleges which interest you; The College Handbook, college    catalogs, and other resources available.

 

 

JUNE

 

·        Take SAT I or SAT II.

 

·        Continue the college search, and discuss with your counselor.

 

·        Plan summer visits to colleges.

 

·        If you do not have a job, try volunteering in your career area.

 

 

Highlights for the Month

 

JUNIORS:

 

On Tuesday, March 13, 2007 from 9:30 AM to 11:10 AM in the auditorium a post-secondary panel on “Options after High School” will be offered for your class and your parents.

 

Choosing a path for post-secondary education is one of the most important decisions that high school students can make. There are so many different directions. As a Guidance Department, we will be providing a panel to address some of those different directions.

 

I. The options after high school panel program:

 

~ The college process by Mr. Rosabianca, Admissions Counselor from Sacred Heart University and Mrs. Kennedy, Associate Director of Admissions from Southern Connecticut State University.

 

~ The advantages of community college by Mr. Zaneski, Director of Admissions and Financial Aide from Three Rivers Community College

 

~ The career/technical school option by Mrs. Mehaylo from Porter and Chester Institute
